Life Update: May 2015
It’s been a while since I last posted an update on my life; last year in fact. It’s funny how much things have changed, and even more so when I think of how good all the change has been.
For the past couple of weeks I’ve been comfortably settling into my new job. I’m now working for a company called Code42; you may have heard of them. Only the leading provider of enterprise backup. I’m on the support desk, naturally, and I’m on the Tier 2 team, which at this point means that I know my stuff, but still learning the product to be able to effectively support it. Being in an office where I’m free to learn, test, and be myself is certainly a step up from the oppressive, restricting work environment I came from. Complaining about the sun in your eyes at Code42 is followed by a swift golf putting session, which is not even slightly a bad thing.
Bundled with a new job was a quick & precise relocation south. 120 miles south to be exact. From Swadlincote, Derbyshire, to High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. I can’t say it’s been a stressless process, and I’ve come close to the edge of sanity a couple of times since I’ve been here, but the somewhat traumatising life changes I’ve made have all been worth the effort. I’m now in a great position in life. I’ve got my new MacBook Pro, I’m getting my own fibre connection, I’ve got an amazing job, a new bike, and a fuck ton of opportunity to develop myself beyond even my own expectations, which weren’t exactly low to begin with. I also think I’ve lost a few pounds since the move, but I wouldn’t want to jinx it, so I’ll shut up.
I’ll update again next month, but thing as they stand, are fantastic.
